As a teacher you can set a syllabus of work in the ASSIGN COURSES and track course progression on the TEACHER DASHBOARD.
Assign work
In the ASSIGN COURSES tool you can create a program of learning for each class.
Assign courses tool
- From the profile page, click on the TEACHERS tab.
- Click the ASSIGN COURSES button. Here you will see two buttons:
- The CREATE ASSIGNMENTS button
- The EDIT ASSIGNMENTS button
- Below the buttons are your list of classes.
- From the drop down, a teacher can assign courses to that class.
- This toggle switch controls if a class can see non-assigned courses.
Create assignments
First we will look at creating assignments which is essentially assigning a selection of course content rather than assignments in the traditional sense. As an example, a teacher has a group of 7 year olds and having access to the whole suite of courses is confusing and beyond the reach of the students. The teacher can create a syllabus of courses and assign it to the class. For seven year olds, all the level 1 JR courses would be appropriate.
- Select the Create Assignment button.
- Ensure the toggle is set to the JR library.
- Select the topic Data Representation.
- Select the level 1 course in that topic
- Select the next topic, Computational Thinking
- Select the level 1 course in that topic
- Select the next topic, Programming
- Select the level 1 course in that topic
- Impacts of computing does not have a level 1 course so we will only select those 3 courses.
- Give this syllabus of assigned courses a name.
- Select Save.
Assign courses to class
With a syllabus of assigned courses created we can now assign it to a class.
- Choose the class from your list of classes.
- Select an assignment from the drop down menu.
- The open menu shows all the assignments that have been created in your school.
- Toggle the HIDE ASSIGNMENTS button to control the courses students can view.
Hide unassigned courses
Hide Toogle Off
- If the HIDE ASSIGNMENTS toggle is grey and to the left.
- Students can access the COURSE LIBRARY.
- Students can find the assignments in MY COURSES.
- The assigned courses are added along with any other work the student has begun.
Hide Toogle On
- If the HIDE ASSIGNMENTS toggle is green and to the right.
- Students cannot access the COURSE LIBRARY.
- Students can find the assignments in MY COURSES.
- Students can only see assigned courses, they cannot see the other courses that the student has already begun work on.

PRO points and progress tracking
Student progress is tracked through points. Students score points for every completed task in a lesson. Each Code Avengers Pro lesson has 5 tasks. A perfect task score is 10 points. A completed task will score at least 5 point.
Up to 5 points can be deducted in the following situations:
- 1-2 points are lost per hint used.
- 1 point is lost for every 2 incorrect attempts at completing a task. Tasks are checked when both the CHECK and NEXT buttons are clicked.
- Clicking the solution code button deducts 5 points, giving a task score of 5/10.
In the teacher dashboard, student progress is color-coded. You can see when students are using a lot of hints or solutions to get through the tasks. These students may need extra support.
